Target Group:
Instructors at the University of Graz from all disciplines who wish to design or further develop self-study phases in their teaching.
Workshop Description:
Learning doesn’t end in the classroom – self-study phases help students actively engage with content. But what makes them effective? This hands-on webinar focuses on designing didactically sound self-study settings, especially in the age of AI. Participants will explore how to create meaningful tasks, select appropriate materials, and connect self-study with classroom learning to foster sustainable and independent learning.
Contents:
Key principles of self-regulated learning
Criteria for effective and motivating tasks
Suitable methods and materials for self-study
Integration of self-study and classroom phases
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to:
Plan and conduct effective self-study phases
Design supportive learning materials and tasks
Apply suitable methods for independent learning
Align self-study with in-class teaching
Methodology:
Interactive setting with individual reflection, pair/group work, discussions, and short input sessions.
