Ars Docendi

State prize for excellent teaching

(Kopie 1)

Since 2013, the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research has awarded the Ars Docendi, the Austrian State Award for Excellence in Teaching, to teachers at public universities, universities of applied sciences, private universities and teacher training colleges.

The prize is endowed with 7,000 euros and is awarded in five categories - in 2023 in the categories "Teaching and digital transformation", "Cooperative teaching and learning formats", "Learning outcome-oriented examination culture", "Research-related or art-led teaching" and "Quality improvement of teaching and studyability".

How can I apply for the Ars Docendi?

Lecturers are nominated for the Ars Docendi by the rectorate and/or the student representatives. In this case, the Quality Assurance and Teaching Development Team contacts the nominated lecturers at the University of Graz and supports them in the submission process.
